Happy Paws Retreat Wirral boards up to six dogs at a time, in a real home with a real garden — with the Wirral Way, Eastham Woods and Storeton Woods as the daily walk, not a concrete run.
Happy Paws Retreat Wirral is a small, licensed home boarding set-up on the Wirral peninsula. Rather than running a kennel of runs and cages, we take in up to six dogs at a time — carefully matched for compatibility through familiarisation — so your dog gets a genuinely settled stay rather than a room full of barking strangers.
Every stay starts with a proper introduction: a meet & greet away from the house, then a trial stay, before anything is booked in. Daily routines, feeding, medication and exercise are all followed exactly as you'd do them yourself, and recorded, so nothing is left to guesswork.
We're based on the Wirral, with the Wirral Way, Eastham Woods and Storeton Woods all close enough to be regular walks rather than a rare treat.
No runs, no cages, no rota of different faces. Just a settled home, a fenced garden, and a routine your dog already recognises from you.
Your dog stays in an actual house — sofa, garden and all — not a kennel block. Their own bed and belongings come too, so everything smells like home.
Morning and afternoon walks across the Wirral Way, Eastham Woods, Storeton Woods or West Kirby beach — weather-appropriate, on or off lead exactly as you allow.
Medication, specific diets, elderly or nervous dogs — all handled to your exact instructions, and logged on a written record for every dose.
Dogs settle fastest when the day still makes sense to them. This is roughly how it runs — adjusted around your dog's own routine.
First walk of the day, before breakfast.
Fed alone, on your food, your schedule.
Free run of the fenced garden, naps on the sofa.
Wirral Way, Eastham Woods, Storeton Woods, or the beach at low tide.
Their own bed, in their own designated room.
Walks are varied through the week rather than the same loop on repeat — matched to each dog's energy, age and confidence.
Twelve miles of flat, dog-friendly former railway line running the length of the peninsula — our most regular walk.
Ancient woodland above the Mersey with sniffing trails and river views — a favourite for calmer, exploratory walks.
Quiet ridge-top woodland above Bebington, well used by local dog walkers and good for controlled off-lead time.
Everything below is required and inspected under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 — we just think it's how it should be done anyway.
Fully enclosed, double-gated, checked daily for hazards.
A proper, comfortable room of their own to retreat to.
A separate space kept clear in case any dog is ever unwell.
Registered with a nominated local practice, 24 hours.
Nothing is confirmed until your dog has actually met the house — that's non-negotiable, for their sake as much as yours.
Tell us your dates and a bit about your dog — breed, age, temperament, any medical needs.
We meet away from the house first, then bring your dog back to see the house and garden together.
A short trial stay is required prior to all stays, so everyone knows it's a good fit.
Paperwork, vet details and consents signed off, and your dates are locked in.
The more detail, the better — breed, age, temperament, dates you have in mind.
